New Ink

Just got a new tattoo in Japan.  The artist are really good here at making the tattoos look real and life like. With my time winding down here in Japan I had to get one.  I got it on my ribs and it hurt pretty good.  This tat means a lot to me because this is where i was born and raised.  This is where my childhood began.  I was fortunate and blessed enough to have both of my parents growing up that provided me with everything i needed to be a happy child. (far from spoiled though) lol This street is where i learned to ride my bike, where i learned to play basketball and the 1 on 1 battles with my older brother started, where i had my first birthday party, where i played football and baseball in the street with my friends, where i had my first dog (RIP Smokey),  where i got my first kiss, ETC .  So many things happened on this street that helped shape me into the man that i am today and thats why i wanted to get it tatted. I like how it turned out even though it was so painful. lol Im already thinking about what to add to it.

John Flowers: LIFE AFTER WVU0
Joe Gaiter April 02, 2012 Uncategorized

John Flower’s talks with Joe Gaiter about his childhood, playing at West Virginia University, what he is doing now and his future.

John Flowers: My view on life is to have fun, be hungry and stay humble…all things are possible through Christ.

Joe Gaiter:Where did you grow up

John Flowers: I grew up in Waldorf Md born and raised. My childhood was great. Have a older brother that’s 2 years older than me that i learned a lot from. I made a lot of mistakes that i learned from. I was blessed enough to have both of my parents in my house. A lot of people don’t have a father growing up and mines were there for his family. He taught me a lot and was there to keep me and my brother in line.

Joe Gaiter:When did you start play playing basketball?

John Flowers: I started playing ball when i was about 3 years old. My parents bought me and my brother a fisher price court that my brother and i would play on in the basement of our house.

Joe Gaiter:How did St. Mary’s Ryken help you become the man you are today?

John Flowers: St. Mary’s Ryken helped me a lot getting me to where i am today. They really helped me with my school work and helped me learn material so that i got the ACT score and grades that i needed to get to college. The teachers were awesome and they really care about students and learning. Going to private school also cut out a lot of distractions such as dressing and girls and being a class clown. My coach Danny Sancomb and Dave Tallman really helped my recruiting. he got my name and film out to a lot of different colleges.

Joe Gaiter:Why did you choose to attend West Virginia University?

John Flowers: I chose WVU because when i went on my visit i felt right at home. The people in West Virginia really made me feel welcomed. The team had a family feel to it as well. West Virginia is a great place to be.

Joe Gaiter:How was your 2009-2010 year at WVU.

John Flowers: My 2009-2010 yeah was amazing. Great experience and am honored to have been on that team. We all played together as a team and everyone knew their role on the team. On top of that we all had a lot of fun. The fans helped us get to that point as well. They had our back every game.

Joe Gaiter:What have you done since you graduated?

John Flowers: Since I graduated I’ve been playing ball in Japan and chasing my dream of playing in the NBA someday. Playing pro is fun and it is a blessing to be able to get paid for doing what i love to do.

Joe Gaiter:Where would you like to be 5 years from now?

John Flowers: I would like to be in the NBA 5 years for now…if not…then i would like to be playing somewhere for a lot of money and winning.

Joe Gaiter:What are your thoughts on the WVU’s basketball team now?

John Flowers: The WVU team now has a lot of talent. They are really young and could go really far if they buy into what Coach Huggins is teaching and just do what they are asked to do to the best of their ability. Huggs is a great coach and knows More than Enough about the game.

Joe Gaiter: Final Words?

John Flowers: I Thank God everyday for blessing me with this opportunity to be able to play pro ball. Thank you to my parents and brother for always believing and supporting in me and my dreams. Shout out to my boys the so icey crew that I’ve grown up with for always supporting me. Shout out to the West Virginia Nation for always supporting me.
